Black History Month
This October, our school is proudly celebrating Black History Month with the theme of Reclaiming Narratives. We are taking this opportunity to empower our pupils by learning and reflecting on the achievements of inspirational Black figures and their contributions to society.
Throughout Black History Month, we are focusing on Reclaiming Narratives, highlighting the importance of individuals telling their own stories and sharing their successes. In our school assembly, we explored the stories of key Black figures, such as Marcus Rashford, Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill, and Malorie Blackman, who have excelled in their fields and reclaimed their narratives to inspire others. To engage further, our pupils have been tasked with researching other inspirational Black figures and creating posters, which will be displayed across both of our school sites. As part of our commitment to promoting inclusivity and standing against racism, we will also be participating in Wear Red Day on the 18th of October, supporting the campaign to Show Racism the Red Card.
